This lead is then created without a name (last name):

Hey @BastianHammer !

Thank you for raising this.

It looks like this will be down to the Create form on your environment using "Name" instead of the OOTB layout of separate fields for "First Name" / "Last Name"

However, this is replicable with "Name" on this view so i'll mark this as a bug.
I've also moved this to the SuiteCRM Repo as this is an issue also replicable on legacy. (SuiteCRM 7.x)
So any fixes to this in SuiteCRM7 can be pulled into the subsequent SuiteCRM8 release
