Please read the documentation section Reserved Disk Space
Running the live Linux os will usually put the /dev/sdX will put the drive into a read only state in most distros. For Ubuntu I would recommend that you run in uefi mode. Press e on the boot option for Ubuntu & add delete quiet and put toram in it's place this will download the whole Ubuntu iso to ram then once you are on the desktop just pull your flash drive out & then put it back in now the drive should be writable. Have Ubuntu two partitions in the unallocated space. Efi System Partition 500mb then your root file system for the rest of the drive. To choose Ubuntu boot up next time either select the 3rd partition from your motherboard boot menu or if it's not available use the following feature to find the 3rd partition Ubuntu boot files and go to /efi/boot/bootx64.efi

Thank you very much for your effort to help me.

So I'm running Ventoy from a SSD drive with Ubuntu in live mode, which I'm trying to install on the same SSD drive, so I cannot pull the SSD drive and the plug it back. Please read:
