I'm using this VGA to HDMI adapter on my System76 Thelio Astra's VGA output. It's coming out of an ASPEED BMC chip, and should be outputting a valid VGA signal (verified with my VGA monitor, at least).
But I only get the noise as above. When I move around my mouse or enter input, the noise changes, as in this gif:
I'm wondering if there are some corrections you can do on the JetKVM side to accept what may be strange different resolution settings coming out of these server BMCs. I believe the Supermicro system with the Ampere Altra Max had a similar issue that you fixed in a software update as well.

Something similar happening on my VGA Dell R730XD server. Using this adapter

I see exactly the same as Jeff when using this chinesium, connected to your usual Intel motherboard output. Were you able to figure out if this was resolved with another converter perhaps?

Hello,
I'm noticing the same issue as Jeff while using the native HDMI port on an MSI Z170A gaming pro carbon motherboard
The grey output starts randomly after a reboot
@geerlingguy Have you found a workaround?
Thanks
EDIT: Maybe it happens when I enter BIOS, but not always. Worth also mentioning that this server runs proxmox, so not a desktop OS. This could be a problem related to a weird input resolution and/or a rapid change of the resolution
