Please provide the following information

qBittorrent version and Operating System

Windows10

What is the problem

When there is new version, a notification is shown, when pressed to update app, you are taken to download page. After program downloads, you need to run installation.

What is the expected behavior

Program asks user to update program, and it automatically downloads file and updates application without user input

Steps to reproduce

Check for updates

I usually skip updates, because I usually dont care, because I know, that will need to do installation, UAC, confirm to uninstall version, click next, agree to TOS, next, install, Oh, qbittorrent is running, need to close manually, retry.

too many steps to update app.

Take a look at PowerToys updating mechanism :)

The maintainer has repeatedly stated that they don't want this kind of update mechanism.

If you want a hassle-free update experience on windows, try ninite, or even an actual package manager like chocolatey or scoop.

Is there any reason why not use it (update mechanism)?

I do not mean fully automated, just regular - get notification, press yes, and it does everything else under the hood

I have multiple times denied this. The update process will not change. No auto-update no auto-download no silent installs.

Users take responsibility by updating themselves explicitly.
Furthermore, we don't want to deal with the code complexity of adding autoupdating mechanisms.

This has been asked before and rejected.

EDIT:
Also: #4201, similar #4708 & many more like them........
