qBittorrent & operating system versions
qBittorrent: v4.5.2 (the latest version)
Operating system: windows 10 64 bit (10.0.1xxxx)
What is the problem?
I have 100% disk usage on an external hdd when I am opening the qbittorrent, even if I have the torrent on pause.
As far as I have searched this problem dates from 3 years ago to some users and I didn't see anything that solves it.
I also experience network drops to 0B from 40MB and it stays like that forever until I pause and resume manually (this problem is not present in v4.3.9 but the disk usage it still is)
What I have tried so far is:

What model external hard drive is it?. I'm personally running x64 4.4.5, qt 5.15.5, lt 1.2.17.0 on a win 10 ltsc box and having no issues writing to an external drive. Running 1 download at 20MB/s. Have about 500 torrents loaded. Didn't mess with any cache settings. If the external is an SMR drive that could cause these problems.

It is a Toshiba Canvio Basics 2TB version, but I don't think it's the hdd's fault, because when I opened the thread I had an One Touch 2TB version and it was the same issue. With uTorrent there are not problems with a usage of 16% max

recurring problem... as you've said it's been around since 2-3 years ago, with no clue on how to solve it. i've tried pretty much everything.

This ticket has been closed.
Closure Reason: being "out-of-date", and thus either most likely resolved in recent versions or no longer applicable.
If you experience the reported problem or similar in the latest version, please open a new issue report with the requested information in the issue template.
Due to the changes made to the qBittorrent code and its dependencies over time, the exact cause of your problem could be totally different than the original one, despite the visible symptoms of the bug being similar.
Thus, providing relevant updated information is crucial to find and fix the root cause of a recurrent problem or regression.
A new issue report with relevant updated data gathered from the latest version is preferable to necroing an old report with a comment like "still happens in version x.y.z", even if you think the bug is the same, or suspect of a regression.
Thank you for your contribution(s).
