Options -> Downloads -> Hard disk -> Save files to location: point to folders USB drive.
If qBittorent started when USB drive not attached. Status set to Missing files
Reattaching USB drive and restarting qBittorent, doesn't resolve the problem.
Right click and selecting Force Recheck results in qBittorent re-downloading the files.
