🔖 Feature description
I would love if a hostname that gets entered in the
hostnamefield of a Steam monitor could be resolved. I have a dynamic IP and really don't want to change the Monitor every time the IP changes.This was already mentioned by @gnouts in #492, but I thought opening a new request would be cleaner.
✔️ Solution
A hostname like
example.combeeing resolved to an IP address like012.345.678.9when used in the Steam monitor.❓ Alternatives

I have the exact same problem. If I enter the hostname like
7daystodie.mydomain.comit does not work. If I enter my IP (v4) then Kuma will find the server and display the correct status.As I have a dynamic IP, I can't really use the workaround though.

Please refrain from posting
+1/ requests for updates things on issues, as this makes issue-management harder.Issues are for discussing what needs to be done how by whom.
We use 👍🏻 on issues to prioritise work, as always: Pull Requests welcome.
@yourfate commented on GitHub (Jan 2, 2025):
It is especially confusing as the field you enter the IP in is named "hostname". A warning about this / renaming the field to ip address would at least lesser the confusion. As-is I'd classify this as a bug.
