Right now, I just always pipe the output to tee. However, because I like seeing the indicators, I leave the download progress spinner on, which produces lots of goop in the log file that I have to grep out afterwards.

It'd be great if youtube-dl did its own logging. :)

As a side-effect of #152, youtube-dl will have to have a automatically parseable status indicators that are written to files. I'll leave this bug open as a reminder that the format needs to be documented and easy to parse (or, even better, read by humans).
