Don't worry, you can simply reinstall with

sudo wget https://yt-dl.org/latest/youtube-dl -O /usr/local/bin/youtube-dl
sudo chmod a+x /usr/local/bin/youtube-dl

That should get it running. If not, can you check the env binary by posting the output you get for

/usr/bin/env python --version

A slam dunk, thanks very much. With the "--no-check-certificate"
option it installed without a hitch.
