Hi I was trying to recommend youtube-dl to a friend who uses windows however the download from the site did not work I got
Error:cannot download video
It seems the version from the site was out of date I managed to fix it with this download I tried running youtube-dl.exe --update but got cannot overwrite
https://github.com/rg3/youtube-dl/raw/master/youtube-dl.exe
getting it to update itself and then copying that file into the youtube-dl folder as youtubedl.exe

The download location has changed by now. Try reinstalling as described on http://rg3.github.io/youtube-dl/download.html , i.e. download https://yt-dl.org/latest/youtube-dl.exe .
