youtube-dl not updating , needs root/sudo privileges #9084

i just tried to upgrade my youtube-dl in my linux mint pc , but it shows this

command #1:
youtube-dl -U

output #1:
Updating to version 2016.10.26 ...
ERROR: no write permissions on /usr/local/bin/youtube-dl

so , instead used
command #2:
sudo youtube-dl -U

output #2:

[sudo] password for #:
Updating to version 2016.10.26 ...
Updated youtube-dl. Restart youtube-dl to use the new version.

please suggest me something or fix this as youtube-dl gains sudo privileges
